Previewing the transfer window, Portuguese newspaper Record today features a piece explaining Liga Bwin comes sixth in Europe, when it comes to money made on outgoing transfers in the past 10 years.

They show a few examples of big sales which could be done by local clubs this summer, and there’s the scenario for Darwin Nunez, who’s expected to leave Benfica for a big fee.

Unsurprisingly, it’s Manchester United who are once again named as one of the strongest contenders to land the 22-year-old this summer.

Record writes that Benfica, who now have a new manager, should have many ins and outs this window, and the sale of Darwin is a ‘priority’, to get money in for new signings.

When speaking of the ‘sharks’ who are interested in the striker, the newspaper names Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain. Those are said to be the ‘best positioned’ clubs in the race for the Uruguayan.

Benfica are hoping they can make a minimum of €100m with the sale, which is expected to be the biggest transfer in Portugal this summer.

Still analysing the season that just ended, Portuguese outlet Sapo writes about Darwin Nunez as well.

They recall that when the striker joined Benfica for €24m in 2021, and scored only six league goals in his first season, he was called a flop by many people.

Now in his second year at the club, there were 26 goals in 28 league games, scoring a total of 34 in all competitions. That made him the best player in Liga Bwin, and Benfica are now unlikely to hold him.
