Manchester United are being rather stubborn regarding the future of Matteo Darmian, if Gazzetta dello Sport are to be believed.

The Italian newspaper, who have been sporadically reporting interest from Italian clubs in the former Torino newspaper, explain AS Roma have already asked the Red Devils about loaning the Italy international in January.

However, they also report that Manchester United have said no ‘for now’.

It’s that ‘for now’ that really intrigues us as it suggests José Mourinho and co. could very well change their mind in the last week or so of the transfer window, but we’re not entirely sure why.

Either they are, as has been previously reported, waiting for someone to make a decent offer for a permanent transfer, or they’re waiting to see if they can find a replacement for the 28-year-old.

We’ll have to wait and see, but there’s every chance Darmian will be a Manchester United player until the end of the season.

While not used all that often by Mourinho, he still has his uses, considering he can play on either side of the defence.
