Sevilla are ‘negotiating’ to sign Hannibal Mejbri from Manchester United in the January transfer window, reports Saturday’s edition of Diario de Sevilla.
Currently finding themselves in a very disappointing 16th in La Liga and in something of an unlikely relegation battle, Sevilla have been having a torrid time on and off the pitch.
Sporting director Victor Orta, previously at Leeds United, has been under pressure for his decisions since taking over from Monchi, now at Aston Villa, and there’s a lot of bitterness and distrust behind the scenes.
Orta now needs to bring in signings for the rest of the season, and Diario de Sevilla say Hannibal is one of his main options.
Efforts are ongoing to sign the Manchester United youngster, in what would be a loan deal until the end of the season, and it’s even claimed the 20-year-old ‘had decided’ he wants the move.
Reports this week from the English media had stated Manchester United were reluctant to sanction a loan exit for the midfielder.
So far this season Hannibal has played just over 300 minutes of senior football for Erik ten Hag’s side.
