Manchester United’s interest in Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez is today highlighted on the front page of Portuguese newspaper Record.

The main story isn’t even about the Red Devils’ chase. It’s actually on the player knowing he’s part of Argentina’s squad for the World Cup, as he’s set to travel to Qatar on Monday.

Record points out on their cover that Manchester United are ‘delighted’ with him, leading the list of clubs who’ll try to take him away from Benfica pretty soon.

It’s claimed that many sides, including Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester City, have already been watching the midfielder in the Champions League.

Despite that, it’s the Red Devils who are highlighted, as Erik en Hag’s side are ‘crazy’ about signing him in January, as they’re the ‘main interested’ club.

The problem is that despite getting ready to sell Fernandez, Benfica only want to do that at the end of the season.

The player has barely arrived in Lisbon, being signed from River plate in a €12m deal in July. Now he’s valued by Transfermarkt at €35m, and protected by a €120m release clause.
