Rayan Cherki has endlessly been linked with a move away from Lyon and maybe this is the window in which he finally leaves the French club. Last summer, he came close to signing for Borussia Dortmund before everything collapsed and there were again claims about Cherki perhaps not getting the best mix of advice from those around him.

There’s little question about the 21-year-old’s talent and this season he’s scored 12 goals and added 20 assists across a variety of attacking roles. His contract with Lyon expires in June 2026, and that obviously puts quite a bit of pressure on the situation.

Lyon’s local newspaper Le Progres now reports Manchester United are keen on the youngster. That’s no great surprise, given half the Premier League have been linked at some point.

Le Progres state: ‘Clearly, many English clubs are now keeping an eye on him, the latest of which is Manchester United, who recently saw what the young Lyon player is made of. One source even points out that the Old Trafford club isn’t necessarily price-conscious. He adds that the bidding could rise around Rayan, “well beyond 25 million.”‘

Of course, the part about Manchester United not being price-conscious is highly questionable so would then throw doubt on the other claims. The club may have spent like a drunken sailor in the past but now they need to be much more careful.
