Sunday was an enjoyable one for Manchester United.

Even many of the club’s own fans were lacking optimism ahead of the derby against Manchester City, yet Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had a relatively easy win over their rivals.

Pep Guardiola’s team are still way out in front, and likely uncatchable, in the hunt for the Premier League title, but for Manchester United it brought an end to what had been a difficult run.

Solskjaer’s side have been struggling for goals recently, although many questions continue to be asked about the club’s defence. That’s seen links with multiple potential options, with one of those being Nikola Milenkovic.

The Fiorentina defender has a contract lasting until June 2022, so unless La Viola get a renewal they’ll likely look to sell in the summer.

Manchester United have been linked repeatedly, and Calciomercato report they’ve been in contact to ‘find information’ about the signing. It’s not clear whether that contact is with Fiorentina or the player’s entourage.

The Red Devils want to work out the finances of an ‘eventual operation’, so would like to know all the costs involved in a summer signing.

There’s competition… with Calciomercato naming both Milan clubs, along with Tottenham and Liverpool.
