Manchester United are showing ‘concrete’ interest in striker Rasmus Højlund, who is a self-confessed Red Devils fan and would love the move to Old Trafford.
That’s according to Ekstra Bladet, who say the striker, who bagged a hattrick in the win over Finland for Denmark, is very much on the agenda at United.
They explain that the Atalanta forward has shown he ‘has the killer instinct’ with his performances this season and that has not unnoticed around Europe.
The belief is that he will be ‘in demand’ this summer, with the biggest clubs all considering making a bid to secure his signature.
The newspaper’s information is that ‘bids are expected to fall’, with Højlund valued at around DKK 3-400 million, around £23-31m.
He ‘must consider’ these offers should they arrive and Manchester United are one of those clubs who could offer such a figure.
They are one of the sides who ‘flirts’ with the player and he admitted back in January, when asked about the apparent interest, that he is a fan of the club.
“Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan,” he said at the time.
“So personally, it would be one of the biggest things for me, but of course that doesn’t mean that I would turn down other big clubs if the offers come at some point.”
As yet there has been no formal meetings between Manchester United’s representatives and the player but there is ‘concrete interest’ there, nonetheless.
They will face competition from inside Italy, with the striker having ‘greatly impressed’ clubs with his performances this season, so much so they would be ready to compete with the Reds for his signature.
