Manchester United are the only team ‘maintaining their interest’ in Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele ahead of the summer transfer window.

That’s according to Sport, who say that several other interested parties have pulled out of the race for the Frenchman.

Dembele is out of contract at the Camp Nou in the summer, and despite the Catalan giants making numerous attempts to get him to sign a new deal, he is yet to do so.

That means he is free to negotiate with clubs regarding a free transfer in the summer, and Manchester United are believed to be one of the interested parties.

They have a longstanding interest in Dembele, with the forward linked in pretty much every transfer window, and that has not gone away, with the last report from Spain in February stating that talks have already been held regarding a move to Old Trafford.

Sport now pick up on that and say United’s hopes of getting the forward may have been given a boost as the likes of Chelsea and Juventus have seemingly pulled out of the running.

In fact, it seems Manchester United are the only team that has ‘been maintaining their interest’ in the player after the furore in the January transfer window.

The one issue is that it ‘remains to be seen’ if those in charge at Old Trafford ‘will accept all the financial demands to sign him’.

The newspaper doesn’t make it clear what these demands are, but previous reports have stated Dembele want as much as €15m in signing on bonuses from the clubs interested in him.

Manchester United’s willingness to pay that isn’t clear, but at this point, they may be the only club, other than Barcelona, willing to sign Dembele, which is a clear boost to their hopes of finally getting him.
