Manchester United are close to completing a deal with Paris Saint Germain for midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that the Uruguayan is preparing to leave the French giants, who are in the process of reaching an agreement with Manchester United for him.
They confirm reports from England which had claimed United were on the verge of a deal for the midfielder, stating that the 23-year-old has agreed to continue his career at Old Trafford.
According to their information, an agreement between PSG and Manchester United is ‘about to be completed’.
Several clubs have shown an interest in Ugarte but Manchester United have made it clear that he is their number one target and have pushed ahead with a move following the arrivals of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.
The belief is that Ugarte is happy to make the move to the Premier League to try and re-establish himself after a disappointing first season in France.
The Premier League may be a better fit for him than Ligue 1, at least that is what Manchester United are hoping, with a €70m asking price continuing to be ‘regularly mentioned’ but not yet confirmed.
That, though, is a price that would make sense for PSG as it would allow them to accelerate their move for Joao Neves. Manchester United will surely secure a better deal.
