With both Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino underperforming at Manchester United and Chelsea respectively, the thought of the two clubs changing managers at the end of the season is becoming a recurring subject of discussion in the press.
Many names have been linked with the Premier League sides, with Zinedine Zidane reportedly the dream at Old Trafford, but there is a new name in Italy, that of Simone Inzaghi.
This comes courtesy of Tuttosport, who claim that Manchester United and Chelsea are looking at the Inter Milan manager after his recent successes in charge of the Serie A side.
It’s revealed the two English clubs have gone out of their way to ‘obtain information’ about the Italian manager, seemingly trying to work out what it would take to lure him away from his current role.
Inzaghi currently earns €5.5m/year at Inter without bonuses, but ‘there are rumours’ that he has received offers that would reach €8-9m/year.
The newspaper also add that Liverpool and Barcelona are keeping an eye on the Italian, although everything seems to point towards the Anfield side going fully after Xabi Alonso for the time being.
Something to keep in mind, especially if Manchester United and Chelsea continue to struggle in the coming weeks and months, but we will warn you that this all seems like a story put there to try and get a new contract for Inzaghi, whose deal at Inter expires next season.
This wouldn’t be the first time such a tactic was used, and with Inter currently top of Serie A, this would be the perfect time for him to try and maximise his leverage for a new deal.
