Lucas Bergvall has ended up in the sights of Manchester United, according to reports.
The 16-year-old came up through the ranks of IF Brommapojkarna’s academy and has already made it to their senior team. He scored his first goal for them in their 4-1 defeat to Östers IF on Tuesday.
Less than 24 hours later, there is a mention of Manchester United keeping tabs on the Sweden U16 international.
According to FotbollDirekt, several clubs across Europe are keen on the ‘super talent’, but only the Red Devils and Feyenoord are named, as these two sides are ‘chasing’ him. That’s all the report has to say about the Premier League side.
A year ago, IF Brommapojkarna sporting director Peter Kisfaludy confirmed the midfielder had visited Manchester United’s Carrington training facilities.
“You have to remember that Lucas has been to Manchester United, Juventus, Bayern Munich,” Kisfaludy told FotbollDirekt in November 2021.
“As said; this is an exceptional talent. His technique and understanding of the game. It is not difficult to understand when you see him that he is the team captain in the U16 national team.”
Even though, as per FotbollDirekt, Manchester United are ‘chasing’ Bergvall, they will not be able to bring him to England until he turns 18 years of age. That’s because post Brexit, English clubs cannot sign overseas players until they reach that age.
