Manchester United continue to be named as a competitor for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Portuguese newspaper Record today shares a page-long story about the Argentine midfielder. Their focus is on the interest from Barcelona, as they claim that manager Xavi Hernandez has the player ‘in his list’ for the summer window.

But the outlet can’t ignore that other clubs are interested in the 21-year-old, and that’s where Manchester United come in. They point out that as previously reported by them, the Red Devils are ‘attentive’ to Fernandez.

Manchester United would need to battle for a January transfer, because according to Record, Benfica have already decided that they’re not letting him go so soon. They’re on top of the Portuguese league table and in the Champions League’s round-of-16, and don’t want to lose such an important player right now.

The Eagles only spent €12m to sign Fernandez a few months ago.

He’s now protected by a €120m release clause and valued by Transfermarkt at €35m, so their request for his transfer next year will certainly be a lot bigger than what they paid.
