Reports from the Italian media continue to point out Manchester United as a potential destination for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic.

On Thursday morning, newspaper La Reppublica had already brought a story saying the player isn’t expected to renew his contract with La Viola, and should leave in the summer.

That’s when they claimed that Manchester United seem to be leading the race for Milenkovic, instead of all the Italian clubs who’ve been interested in him.

Now when questioned on Twitter regarding this case, Sky Sport journalist Angelo Mangiante brought some very similar information.

He says that with Milenkovic’s contract expiring in 2022, his farewell from Fiorentina is ‘likely’ this summer, as the club would either sell him or risk losing him for free.

The journalist adds that Manchester United are ‘the first choice in the race’, even though there’s no information on how advanced talks are with the player or the Italian side, or whether there’s any taking place at all.

Although it had been a while since the Red Devils’ moves for Milenkovic had last been reported, this now seems to be a strong rumour building up for the summer.
