On May 8th, AS stated Manchester United are looking at Barcelona’s Vitor Roque as part of INEOS’ ‘facelift’ at Old Trafford. It was also said the Red Devils are waiting to possibly take advantage of his situation at Barcelona.
The striker has struggled for regular game time since arriving at the Camp Nou in January and this hasn’t pleased his agent, who has opened the door for his exit.
Manchester United’s interest in the 19-year-old is discussed in Brazil by O Dia as they are one of the European clubs looking at Roque for next season.
The report mainly focuses on Flamengo’s interest in the Brazil international, as they have identified him as a target to replace Gabriel Barbosa, also known as Gabigol. The latter’s deal lasts until December 2024 and his club are keen on extending his contract.
Flamengo are monitoring a few players to replace Gabigol, including Roque.
Barcelona’s idea is to allow the player to go out on loan to a European club in the summer window and this suits Manchester United and Roque’s other European suitors. Other reports have stated everyone involved wants a permanent transfer.
It’s claimed Erik ten Hag’s side, Chelsea, Real Betis and Napoli have ‘already contacted’ the Catalan club to sign the South American on a loan deal. Barcelona will meet Roque’s agent André Cury next week, to present the loan offers they are handling.
The representative isn’t in favour of loan exit to a European club, let alone to a Brazilian one. This makes it almost impossible for Flamengo to sign Roque and if he were to leave Barca, he may end up at another European club.
With Manchester United already making contact and Barca said to be open to letting Roque go out on loan, Erik ten Hag’s side would have to convince the agent and the frontman.
