Manchester United “have agreed” on a deal with Beşiktaş and Burnley for striker Wout Weghorst but have to wait for the Turkish side to sanction the transfer.
That’s according to journalist Serdar Sarıdağ, who has provided an update on the situation for Skorer TV, relayed by Milliyet.
They explain that Weghorst’s transfer to Manchester United is ‘on the agenda’ and negotiations for him to arrive at Old Trafford have now ‘reached the final stage’.
United have been chasing the Netherlands international for the last few days, with Erik ten Hag keen to add a striker to his squad after Cristiano Ronaldo departed last month.
Weghorst is seemingly the man he wants but a deal is complicated to get done as he is currently on loan at Beşiktaş from Burnley, meaning there is a three-part negotiation that needs to be concluded if the striker is to move this month.
Manchester United are working on that, with Milliyet explaining that the player did not attend Beşiktaş’ training today saying he was in pain. Instead, the Dutch striker worked in the fitness centre.
That’s because his move to Manchester is nearing conclusion, at least according to Sarıdağ’s latest information.
“I don’t think Weghorst will play in the Konyaspor match even if he stays here,” he is quoted as saying.
“It’s a player’s dream to play for Manchester United, but it’s not stylish to ignore this place. It’s not nice. It is already known that there is an offer.
“Beşiktaş rented Weghorst for free, but €3m will be earned. I don’t remember such a thing in Turkey, it’s a lottery win. When you look at the maths, with the income to be obtained from Weghorst, he can turn to Aboubakar.
“Whoever brought Weghorst did a very good job. If Ahmet Nur Çebi sends him away, Beşiktaş will have made a good trade.
“Beşiktaş, Burnley and Manchester United have agreed on the transfer of Weghorst, but he will not leave without Beşiktaş’ permission.”
