Manchester United and Flamengo are in ‘advanced’ in the talks for the transfer of Facundo Pellistri, according to claims from Brazil.
Outlet O Globo claims the Rio de Janeiro side are attempting a loan deal, and the Red Devils are ‘interested’ in their offer.
What’s on the table is a one-year spell, with a buying option, and the player’s salary fully paid by Flamengo.
The signing is not done yet, and O Globo points out that European clubs are also interested in the player, who has been of little use at Manchester United.
It’s recalled that Flamengo’s local rivals Botafogo also made an approach for the signing, but no offer has been made yet. According to O Globo, the red and black side have an advantage because of a good relationship with the Red Devils back from the time they negotiated the transfer of Andreas Pereira.
Pellistri, who joined Manchester United in a move from Penarol in 2020, had been on loan at Alavés, and returned to the club last summer. Since then, he only played for six minutes in the FA Cup clash against Charlton Athletic.
