On February 7th, Andrea Cambiaso’s agent Giovanni Bia revealed Manchester City were interested in signing the Juventus player in the winter market.
Two days later, Juve technical director Cristiano Giuntoli expressed his delight Cambiaso didn’t leave for Manchester City.
Earlier this month, Bia insisted his client isn’t focusing on the reports linking him with a move away from Juventus.
That hasn’t stopped Calciomercato from covering the Citizens’ interest in the 25-year-old.
They state Manchester City held talks with the Serie A side and wanted to present a €60m offer in January. This wasn’t entertained by the Old Lady, who raised the wall by setting a €80m price tag.
Cambiaso is still at the Turin club but could leave in the summer window. The report says the Italy international is the ‘favourite’ target of Pep Guardiola and Manchester City ‘will return’ for him.
They add if an offer ‘similar to the evaluation made in January’ [€60m], Juve could sell him. In other words, the English club can sign Guardiola’s target for a lower price.
Faced with the possibility of losing Cambiaso, Juventus have identified Club Brugge’s Maxim De Cuyper as the target to replace him.
