Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, and this has seen the Premier League winners look at a few options in the market.
Last week, SportBild said Manchester City have set their sights on Werder Bremer’s Michael Zetterer as a target.
If Zetterer had ended up at Manchester City, Bild say it would have been the ‘transfer surprise of the summer’.
The stopper kept six clean sheets and conceded 37 goals from 27 games in the recently concluded season. Pep Guardiola apparently liked his performances and considered the 28-year-old as an option for Manchester City.
According to Bild, the English champions haven’t made contact for the player. Even if they were to, a deal is unlikely to take shape because he wants to continue at Werder Bremer.
Zetterer could have been presented with an opportunity to join Manchester City, but he has now ruled out a transfer as his desire is to fulfil his contract, which lasts until 2027.
Last weekend, the goalkeeper insisted that he’s focused on planning his marriage instead of changing clubs in the summer window.
“My phone is just ringing because of the wedding planning,” he said, relayed by Bild.
Manchester City have to look elsewhere if they are still keen on signing a new goalkeeper.
