The Thiago Almada saga is definitely on again, since the player is said to not be keen on renewing his contract with Velez Sarsfield.
The Portuguese press continues to say that Manchester City are interested in signing the winger and loaning him out to Sporting, and there are some new updates coming out today.
Newspaper A Bola claims that although the player isn’t signing a new deal, he doesn’t want to leave for free either. That means he’s not waiting until June 2020 to make the move.
Almada wants to be fair to his club, so although he wants to leave ‘as soon as possible’, he’s making sure Velez make enough money with the sale.
A Bola once again writes that Manchester City offered €10m to sign him this summer, but Velez Sarsfield told the Premier League side to pay for the player’s €16m release clause.
Argentine newspaper Olé also brings a story about the player’s possible departure today, and when listing the possible destinations, they name Boca Juniors and Manchester City, also mentioning that offer.
