Even though Manchester City’s interest in Matheus França isn’t something reported every week, Pep Guardiola’s side have been linked with the Brazilian player a few times.
Back in January, it was said the Premier League club were preparing a ‘truckload of money’ for the midfielder. Then in July, it was said they ‘intended’ to put €35m on the table.
It seems those offers were never really made, but today, Manchester City are back to being named as a potential destination for the Flamengo youngster.
França scored a goal in the 2-1 defeat to Corinthians this week, and as Metropoles writes about his future, they point out he’s been wanted by a handful of European clubs.
Manchester City are labelled as ‘interested’ in him, besides the approaches he already had from Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid.
The player is protected by a €100m release clause, although that obviously only works to try and ward off the European sides.
Since he’s only 18 with just 23 appearances for the first team, he’s more likely to show more of his potential in the 2023 season in Brazil rather than make the switch to a club like Manchester City just yet.
