Manchester City youngster Cole Palmer wants to Jadon Sancho’s route to Borussia Dortmund to ‘take the next step’ in his career as the winger did.
That’s according to BILD, who say the German side have ‘targeted’ the 21-year-old this summer as he’s been on their wish list for some time.
The newspaper explains that Dortmund had Palmer on their list of targets last summer, but a move was blocked by Manchester City, who wanted him as part of Pep Guardiola’s squad.
However, their chances of signing him have increased this year as the U-21 international only has a ‘subordinate role’ in the current City squad and only managed 850 minutes on the pitch this season.
That’s not enough for a ‘mega-talent’ who has played in all the youth national teams from U15 to U21 and wants to ‘take the next step’ in his career.
He’s ‘ready’ to leave Manchester City and move to Bundesliga and isn’t ignorant to how the likes of Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho have joined Dortmund and become stars in recent years.
He wants to ‘emulate’ those players, who both went on to secure massive moves to Real Madrid and Manchester United.
A two-year loan from Manchester City is reportedly ‘conceivable’ at this moment in time, although whether that would include some kind of clause to make the move a permanent one isn’t mentioned.
Either way, Palmer is seemingly keen to make the switch to Germany and kick on after limited minutes under Guardiola this season.
