Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has admitted he can’t accept what has happened to them this season, having never experienced anything like it.

Marca cover comments from the Portuguese international today made in an interview with DAZN about Manchester City’s struggles this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side are on course for their worst campaign since 2015/16 as they see out what has been a disastrous season for them.

They’ve been far off of the high standards they’ve set for much of the campaign, with several injuries to key players, notably Rodri, hindering them from playing the football that’s brought them so much success.

Instead, it has been a struggle in the Premier League, with them currently 20 points behind leaders Liverpool and out of the Champions League after being swept aside by Real Madrid.

It’s been a far cry from what we’ve become accustomed to with Pep Guardiola’s sides, who headed into this season looking to make it five titles in a row.

Silva has been a key part of that Manchester City success trail and admits this season has been tough, saying it’s a difficult war both physically and mentally.

“I think it has been above all a very mental and very difficult war,” he said.

“Because winning, winning, winning, a team that is used to so much success and suddenly receiving as many blows as we have received this year, it’s not easy, I mean on a personal level.

“It has never happened to me in my career, and it has been hard, because I’m not used to it, I don’t accept it, and when week after week we lose important games, and in some of them even playing well? it’s not easy to accept it and we are trying to reverse the situation.”
