Manchester City’s apparent interest in Barcelona youngster Pau Cubarsí is causing something of a panic at the Camp Nou, where they are worried about his low release clause.
That’s according to Sport, who cover various youngsters at the Catalan club today and efforts to keep them away from big clubs in Europe.
The newspaper reports that Barcelona are already working on renewals for youngsters Pau Cubarsí, Héctor Fort and Marc Guiu although all of those are only in the initial phase.
Cubarsí’s current deal expires in 2026 and there is something of a panic to get him renewed because Manchester City have been sniffing around him for months.
His rise into the first team has not gone unnoticed this season and there’s been claims Manchester City are keeping a close eye on him, having made similar moves in the past.
That’s led to something of a panic at the Camp Nou, who are aware of that interest and fear Cubarsí could be secured on the cheap as he has a ‘discreet termination clause’ in his current deal.
Thus, talks are underway, and the first contacts have been held on a renewal, primarily focused on getting that release clause increased to scare off Manchester City and other admirers.
