Manchester City’s effort to sign River Plate striker Julian Alvarez has become the main topic in the Argentine sports media on Friday.

A couple of reports has been claiming that Pep Guardiola’s side are submitting two bids to sign the 21-year-old, who was the Millonario’s sensation in 2021.

Now we get to see something very interesting coming from journalist Hernan Castillo, who’s well known in the South American country for having worked at TNT Sports.

He started the morning claiming River Plate are close yo signing Ezequiel Barco from Atlanta United. Their chase for a striker would be because of Alvarez’s departure.

Then in an update, Castillo came up saying he ‘will not be mysterious’, and just got straight to the point, revealing that Alvarez’s sale, which is ‘about to be closed’ with Manchester City.

That’s all Castillo has to say for now, and considering the many outlets who’ve been covering the story in the past hour, we shall continue to get more information on this story during the day.

Alvarez is protected by a release clause worth €20m, and according to the reports, Manchester City’s offer doesn’t reach that figure.
