Manchester City have their eye on Werder Bremen goalkeeper Michael Zetterer as a potential replacement for Stefan Ortega if he is promoted and Ederson departs the club.
That’s according to Sport BILD, who say Manchester City are already planning ahead in case there’s a shift in their goalkeeping department this summer.
Ederson is currently being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, whose clubs are planning another big year of spending and plucking players from the top leagues in Europe.
The plan for them is to now focus on stars in their prime and Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson is reportedly one of the names being targeted.
Should he leave, that would potentially see Stefan Ortega be moved up to the number one position at the club and put them on the market for a new number two for their squad.
That man could be Zetterer, who Sport BILD report has been identified by Manchester City’s scouts as a potential target.
They report that Pep Guardiola has his eye on the 28-year-old, who pushed Jiri Pavlenka out of the first team with his strong performances in goal for Werder this season.
That saw him spotted by Manchester City’s scouts and now Pep Guardiola and his team have their eye on the player as a potential number two if they need one this summer.
They could take advantage of a release clause in his current contract, which doesn’t expire until the middle of June either. There is no mention of the value of that clause.
He’s a name to keep an eye on moving forwards anyway, particularly if Ederson departs the Etihad this summer.
