The Brazilian media today shares a quite unexpected rumour about Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
According to Globo Esporte, Pep Guardiola’s side are interested in Sport fullback Pedro Lima, who is described as a ‘jewel’.
It’s said the player caught the attention of Mancester City scout Audrio Magalhães, who watched the Campeonato Pernambucano final at the weekend.
The report claims that the emissary sat next to Lima’s agent, Renato Guimarães, in a VIP box at the Arena Pernambuco.
Manchester City are not the first English club to watch the fullback, as the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool have recently scouted him as well.
Sport chief João Marcelo Barros is quoted talking about Lima, and said there’s no surprise about this interest.
“There’s nothing very new there. Scouts from all over the world have been watching him. Maybe the news won’t get out, but a lot of scouts have come from abroad this year.”
The youngster recently had his release clause raised, but that’s still not a scary price for European clubs, and currently stands at €12m.
Sport are a second division club, and the Campeonato Pernambucano is not one of the main state championships in Brazil, so that’s why this interest comes as a bit of a shock. Still, the report sounds quite solid, and we’ll see if Manchester City, Chelsea or Liverpool will actually try to sign the youngster.
