Reports in the German media suggest Manchester City are in negotiations with Schalke over the possibility of signing Leroy Sane.

However, reports in the French media today claim they’re ready to look for alternatives should they find it difficult to compete against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid for Sane (which may be wishful thinking on behalf of the footballer’s father, especially with Madrid).

According to France Football, Manchester City are expected to make an offer for Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez, after the player impressed in Leicester’s 3-1 win against City.

Barcelona could also make an offer for the Algerian international, as they’d like someone to support the trio of Suarez, Neymar, and Messi.

France Football say Barcelona’s only problem could be negotiating a fee with Leicester, and also competing with Manchester City. It is reported Mahrez could be allowed to leave for around €40m.

It must be noted that after France Football first claimed Barcelona interest in Mahrez, it was ruled out by Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo. They said Barcelona simply weren’t targeting Mahrez.

If Mundo Deportivo are right, then that could put some doubt on Manchester City interest too, given it’s from the same source.
