Manchester City could soon win the race for Claudio Echeverri, according to reports.
As SportItalia writes about the dispute for the 17-year-old, they claim Pep Guardiola’s side are ‘very strong’ in this competition.
It’s said Manchester City are ‘ready to pay’ Echeverri’s release clause, which stands at €25m.
The outlet points out that the English side are supposed to have competition from Barcelona, but even though the Camp Nou side have the player’s preference, they have no intention of paying that clause.
The La Liga side would like to wait until the end of next year, as his contract with River Plate expires in December, to sign him as a free agent.
If the report is to be believed, then Echeverri may have Manchester City’s offer in hand and Barcelona’s attempt as a more abstract possibility. That should undoubtedly give Pep Guardiola’s side a big advantage.
It’s also been claimed that Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in the youngster as well, but the Seagulls don’t even get a mention in this specific story.
