On Friday, a report from Goal said Nicolas Otamendi would be keen on leaving Manchester City at the end of the season.
Among the possible destinations for the player, there would be Wolves, the Chinese League, or a return to Valencia or River Plate.
The Valencia media reacts to the claims this weekend, but they don’t sound very confident that the defender could be making a move back to Mestalla soon.
The fact that Otamendi moved from Valencia to Manchester City on a big money deal in 2016 still makes him a potentially expensive player, despite being 31 years of age, and it also means he’s on a relatively big contract.
That’s why El Desmarque says these are two factors which go against Valencia, even though the club could have agent Jorge Mendes by their side.
El Desmarque also doesn’t sound very excited to say that Otamendi isn’t getting much playing time at Manchester City, and wasn’t called up by Argentina in the last international break.
So it sounds like only a very favourable scenario would convince Valencia to go for Otamendi in the next summer. Maybe that could give Wolves an advantage in the race.
