Despite a lot of talk that Julián Álvarez wasn’t overly keen in renewing his contract at Manchester City, the latest from Argentina suggests differently.
In fact, the young forward, who was one of the stars of the World Cup in Qatar, is set to put pen to paper on a new deal very quickly.
That’s according to journalist César Luis Merlo, who took to Twitter on Monday to make it clear that the Manchester City player ‘will sign this Wednesday’ his contract.
The new five-year deal will see him stay at the Etihad until 2028, which comes after his agent and those in charge of Manchester City held a meeting on Monday.
The belief is that the player will also receive ‘an important wage increase’ after his performances at the World Cup.

Joining from River Plate in the summer after a deal was agreed a few months earlier, Álvarez has played second fiddle to Erling Haaland for a lot of the current campaign, but has impressed whenever called upon by Pep Guardiola.
He boasts 10 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City, and has helped his teammates out with three assists along the way.
