Benardo Silva’s unfinished story with Benfica is a well-known theme in Portugal, and that’s why they can’t wait for the Manchester City star to head back to the Eagles.
Last night, he was interviewed by Portuguese comedian Ricardo Araujo Pereira, and was once again asked about that possibility.
He was again happy to speak about it, and the quotes come from Record.
Before presenting the question, Pereira joked that it’s like when children continually ask how long a car journey is going to take. The Manchester City player laughed, but was serious for his answer.
The midfielder spent many years at Benfica’s academy, but had very few chances to play for the first team, only making three official appearances for them. He left for AS Monaco in January 2015, and it was in the summer of 2017 that Manchester City spent €50m on his signing.
Silva is just 29, so it should indeed take a few more years until he finally accepts to return to Lisbon. They’ll just have to be a little more patient over there.
