After six years belonging to Manchester City, Nahuel Ferraresi has now agreed to a permanent departure from the club.
As reported in Brazil, the defender had his loan at São Paulo extended until December, and he will then be purchased by the Tricolor.
Ferraresi spoke to the club’s media channels about the deal, and in quotes relayed by Globo Esporte, he said he’s glad they found a deal with Manchester City.
“I’m happy because that’s what I wanted when I got injured. I knew I wouldn’t be able to play here in São Paulo anymore if my loan ended, and I told my agent and my surroundings that I wanted to recover here, stay here, because I felt good. I feel good, and I think that when you feel at home it’s very good for the player.
“Thank God everything worked out to extend the loan and be able to wear the São Paulo shirt on the pitch again. Here at the club, the truth is that they welcomed me here. They always cheered for me to stay, the coaching staff, the employees, the board and the president. I also have to thank him, because he did a very good job with the City Group.”
Ferraresi had been bought by Manchester City from Venezuelan side Deportivo Tachira back in 2017.
Since then, he had loan spells at Montevideo City Torque, CF Peralada, Porto, Moreirense, Estoril and finally São Paulo, who he joined last summer.
That means that despite belonging to Manchester City for six years, he never had a single chance to play under Pep Guardiola.
The defender had a serious knee injury last year, and following surgery, São Paulo started putting pressure on Manchester City to renew his loan at the club.
Now with all parties finding an agreement, Ferraresi is no longer returning to England.
