Manchester City loan player Samir Nasri seems to be experiencing a prolonged wait for his scan at Sevilla. Once again having to come off during a match due to a hamstring issue, the fear will be that this time Sevilla have pushed their luck too far, and Nasri could miss games.
Since arriving at Sevilla from Manchester City, Nasri has really excelled, to the point that Sevilla don’t want him to miss games. Despite having a repeated issue with his hamstring, Nasri repeatedly plays, and does so well. It’s a difficult situation for all involved.
We explained on Sunday the progress of Nasri’s hamstring situation since leaving Manchester City:
‘On September 6th, just after Samir Nasri had moved from Manchester City to Sevilla on loan, it was reported in Spain that he’d injured a muscle in his thigh, how they usually refer to a hamstring injury.
It wasn’t serious and Nasri’s training schedule was altered to ease the strain. The Frenchman then went on a brilliant run for Sevilla, and he’s arguably been their most important player in the period since.
Just before the last international break, Nasri suffered a hamstring injury against Alaves, and there was worry he may be out for several weeks. That didn’t prove the case and Nasri played the first game after the internationals, again continuing his good form.
Against Atletico Madrid on October 23rd, Nasri felt a twinge and had to be substituted, but he still started against Sporting Gijon this weekend.’
Spanish newspaper Marca report on Monday that Nasri missed training on Sunday, and they say that it’s today he’s having an MRI scan ‘to determine the severity of the injury and the recovery period’.
Sevilla face Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday, and, if previous games have been a precedent, they’ll do everything possible to get the Manchester City loan star on the pitch.
If this time, once again, Sevilla and Nasri escape without a lay-off, then it’ll surely come soon enough if he keeps playing through the situation. Manchester City and their doctors may well be keeping an eye on the situation, it’s great Nasri is having a brilliant start to the season, but there’s no point if he ends the campaign in pieces.
