Manchester City travelled to Spain this week for the first leg of their semi-final against Real Madrid.
Pep Guardiola’s side had been favourites for the tie and started the match very well, only to see Vinicius Junior blast a shot into the back of the net. They managed to get an equaliser through an equally brilliant Kevin De Bruyne strike, and will now be expected to win at home in the second leg.
Erling Haaland didn’t have his best of matches, and got poor ratings for his performance across the Spanish media.
His dad, Alfe-Inge, also found himself across the Spanish media for the wrong reasons, having got into a spat with Real Madrid fans. From his executive box, the Manchester City star’s father engaged some supporters and could be seen shouting and gesturing at them.
There’s also claims he was throwing peanuts at people in the stands, although he’s denied this and there’s no video evidence of such.
Friday’s edition of AS says Erling Haaland has ‘devalued’ himself after his performance at the Bernabeu, and it won’t help his chances of a transfer to Real Madrid.
They also explain the actions of his father have also left a bad taste.
A future move to Los Blancos isn’t ruled out, but this week is clearly seen as a negative to those chances, for reasons both on and off the pitch.
Manchester City fans will obviously be delighted.
