AC Milan have explored the option to sign Manchester City’s Sergio Gómez on loan in the winter market, according to Pianeta Milan.
The 23-year-old has featured nine times this season and it includes 14 minutes of action from two appearances in the league.
He’s currently the only recognised left-back at Manchester City. Despite this, Pep Guardiola has favoured Nathan Aké and Joško Gvardiol ahead of the Spaniard.
Milan wanted to sign Gómez, who was open to leaving the Etihad this month. The option of signing him has disappeared as Guardiola seems to have convinced him to continue with the Citizens.
Meanwhile, TuttoMercatoWeb state the former Anderlecht man has decided to continue at Manchester City after initially considering leaving on loan due to ‘limited playing time’.
It’s claimed the fullback had a discussion with Guardiola in the last few hours, after which he decided to finish the season with the Premier League winners.
There’s no mention of whether the manager has assured the player that his minutes will improve in the coming months.
Gómez’s deal lasts until 2026 and if he continues to be overlooked by Guardiola, he could consider leaving Manchester City next summer.
