Barcelona have been chasing Bernardo Silva for most of this window after having failed to secure the Manchester City star’s services last summer.
The 29-year-old’s current deal expires in 2025. On August 10th, Sport reported he’s likely to accept a new deal at the Etihad if the La Liga side refuse to take necessary steps to sign him.
Mundo Deportivo state the attacking midfielder has now ‘communicated’ to Manchester City that he will accept their renewal proposal.
However, the Catalan club are unlikely to fulfil their manager’s dream due to their difficult economic situation.
It’s said Pep Guardiola and other leaders at Manchester City have convinced the Portugal international to continue at the Etihad. These two factors have helped the Premier League winners to tie him down to a new deal.
Mundo makes no mention of the length of the new deal but do state Silva will improve his salary. This should also bring an end to the long saga linking him to Barcelona.
