Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has recently bought a house in Hamburg ahead of a possible return to the Bundesliga this summer.

That’s according to SportBILD, who report that the Manchester City number two ‘wants to feel at home’ in the city and would consider a move back to the Bundesliga if it is offered to him.

They explain that Ortega’s future at the Etihad is very much dependent on whether Ederson stays at the club much longer.

His deal runs until 2026 but there have been rumours that he could move to Saudi Arabia and if that were to happen, Pep Guardiola has told Ortega he would become the number one.

However, if the Brazilian remains where he is then Ortega could consider a move after this season. He recently bought a house in Hamburg and wants to make that his home, so a return to the Bundesliga could be idea.

One potential option had been VfB Stuttgart if they lose Alexander Nubel, who is on loan from Bayern Munich and could return there rather than signing permanently, but SportBILD say they have other options at this moment in time.

Thus, Ortega will need to find another club in Germany if he is to return in the summer.

For now, his focus is on Manchester City, and if he is to remain there, he would like a salary increase.

Talks have already been held about that possibility, with him currently earning around €7m in his first two years at the club, or €3.5m a year. That’s low considering the likes of Erling Haaland earn €50m a year and he wants it fixing if he is to stay.

It all depends on Ederson, though. If he remains, then Ortega will look to move back to Germany, where he’s already paved some of the way with his house purchase.
