As the Manchester City owners continue to keep an eye on South American football, it seems there could be a new signing coming from there soon.
Journalist German Garcia Grova today writes that the City Group made a verbal offer for Liverpool winger Luciano Rodriguez.
It’s the Uruguayan club Liverpool we’re talking about here, and the Manchester City owners have reportedly put €15m on the table, letting his club keep 20% of a future move.
For now, there’s no information on whether the Montevideo side are happy with that bid, as the player had been linked to other clubs recently.
With the Uruguayan season having just started, Rodriguez has two goals in five appearances. In total, he has 12 goals and six assists in 41 matches for the club, and was recently called up to make his international debut.
Manchester City don’t always use the youngsters purchased by the City Group, but since €15m is not a small investment, we’ll see whether Pep Guardiola would give him a chance in case the deal with Liverpool goes through.
