On Friday, we covered a report from Portuguese newspaper O Jogo saying Sporting are interested in the Argentine wonderkid Pedro De La Vega.
Since the 18-year-old isn’t going to be a cheap transfer, the Lisbon side could use their partnership with Manchester City to afford the signing. That would give the Premier League club a chance to buy him later.
Now a new report from Portugal backs up Manchester City’s interest in the player, but this time, they show up as competitors against Sporting.
Outlet A Bola says Pep Guardiola’s side have ‘opened negotiations’ with Lanús, and are looking to spend up to €12m for his signing.
A Bola adds that last summer, Pedro De La Vega came close to moving to Italian side Genoa, but Lanús’ demands of €10m ended up harming the chances of a deal.
De La Vega is still getting his first minutes for Lanús, although he’s been a regular with Argentina’s U20 side lately.
