Manchester City will continue to be named as the suitor for Manuel Locatelli after his agent earlier confirmed the Premier League side are monitoring the Sassuolo midfielder for the next market.

On February 23rd, Tuttosport reported the Citizens and Juventus are in the race for the 23-year-old’s transfer.

Real Madrid have become the latest club credited with an interest in player and this has been widely stated in Italy, citing Mundo Deportivo as the source.

It’s worth noting Mundo’s report from February 26th makes it clear their claim of Los Blancos’ interest comes from Italy.

‘Manuel Locatelli, 23, is in Real Madrid orbit for next season. That is what they claim in Italy where they explain that in addition to Real Madrid, Juventus is also behind this midfielder who trained at Milan and who now plays for Sassuolo. In addition to Juventus, City is following this player closely,’ Mundo stated in their report.

Despite making it clear where the source has come from, the Italian media continues to refer Mundo Deportivo’s report to state Real Madrid will provide competition to City and Juve.

Having relayed Mundo’s claims, Calciomercato explain Sassuolo want €40m for the former AC Milan man and with Real Madrid now joining the list of suitors, they are hoping for an auction in the summer.

Another report from the same website explain City, Juve and Real Madrid are the clubs ‘most interested’ in the Italy international, who is valued at €40m by Sassuolo.

We cannot be certain about the La Liga winners’ interest in Locatelli, but if we were to go by anything that’s been reported in Spain and Italy in recent days, the chances of Real Madrid having any interest in signing Locatelli look slim.

This should come as an encouragement for both Pep Guardiola’s side in signing the player, especially after Locatelli’s representative already confirmed City’s interest in his client.
