Eintracht Frankfurt see no need to reduce their demands for Omar Marmoush, particularly with Manchester City struggling.
That’s according to BILD, who cover the confident, almost cocky stance the German side have at this point in proceedings.
The newspaper explains that Marmoush has continued to shine for Eintracht this month, despite agreeing a deal to join Manchester City. He has two goals and two assists since reaching that agreement.
He managed a goal and an assist in the 4-1 win over Freiburg this week to continue his impressive form across this season.
The transfer poker continues with Manchester City in the background, but Eintracht believe they have ‘Pep (Guardiola) completely in its hands’.
City’s first offer for the player was a base transfer fee of just under €70m. This was rejected. Eintracht’s director of football Markus Krösche is still demanding a fee of over €80m. He has no intention of backing down from that either.
That’s because he feels Eintracht are the ones ‘determining how things will go’ in the current poker game with Manchester City. They view the current offer for Marmoush as ‘nothing extraordinary.’
This is based on an assumption Marmoush is firing them to the Champions League. That would mean a €20m signing bonus. And they assume he’ll still be worth €60m in the summer. Thus, €80m seems fair.
And the fact that Manchester City failed to beat Brentford on Tuesday was an extra point for them. As is Pep Guardiola’s continued complaints about his squad and desire for additions.
That is why Eintracht have already announced Marmoush will be in the starting 11 against Dortmund on Friday. That can only change if Manchester City don’t meet their demands. But it is quite possible they will have done so by that point.
It seems Eintracht certainly believe as much, almost goading the Premier League champions into paying their asking price.
