All of a sudden, Manchester City and Manchester United are claimed to be involved in a battle for Barcelona youngster Pau Cubarsi.
With the defender doing well in his first appearances for Barça’s first team, Catalan outlet Sport has a couple of stories about him today.
One of them is in their printed edition, claiming Barcelona are doing everything possible to get him protected at the club by giving him a long term contract.
It’s then said ‘it seems Manchester United could make some move’ to sign him, with not any other detail on that potential chase, which came out of nowhere.
With Barcelona claimed to have ‘absolute tranquillity’ about the situation, the Red Devils don’t look like a big threat.
Meanwhile, on their website, Sport asks ‘why Manchester City insist on Cubarsi so much’.
It’s claimed that the Citizens know how to detect early targets and ‘cast their eyes’ on the defender, as he’s the ‘ideal footballer’ for Pep Guardiola’s style, but couldn’t convince him to leave Barça.
There’s no information on that so called insistence.
There’s no doubt the Catalan media is suddenly trying to hype up Cubarsi and Manchester City and Manchester United are mentioned as clubs who are failing to sign him.
That’s a script we’ve seen many times, with the youngster having a beautiful story about rejecting Premier League sides to succeed at the Camp Nou.
