Manchester City goalkeeper Arijanet Muric has been accused of turning up to training with Kosovo ‘dazed’ after a night of heavy drinking.
The City keeper is currently on loan with Dutch side Willem II, having joined them in the January transfer window after returning from a loan spell with Girona.
He’s been a regular for them since, with seven appearances in the Eredivisie to his name thus far.
That saw him recently called up to the Kosovo squad for their upcoming fixtures, a friendly against Lithuania this evening and then World Cup qualifiers against Sweden and Spain.
That’s seen him thrown out of the squad by the Kosovo FA, although they have failed to report why that is the case.
In the media, it has been reported he had a ‘quarrel’ with fellow player Edon Zhegrova, which Muric later denied in a now-deleted Instagram post.
At a recent press conference, Kosovo coach Bernard Challandes insisted the disagreement was fake news and simply stated that Muric’s departure was a ‘disciplinary measure’.
This is not the first time the Manchester City goalkeeper has been caught up in a scandal, though, with him also courting controversy back in October when he was pictured with a woman at the team’s hotel, a direct contravention of Coronavirus protocols.
That was brushed off as nothing more than an innocent photo in the lobby, with Bajram Shama, the team manager, insisting that reports alcohol had been involved were false.
Muric now finds himself in the middle of controversy again, with Blick describing him as a ‘scandal on two legs’, something we’re sure Manchester City will be extremely concerned about moving forwards.
