Manchester City defender Yan Couto has arrived in Switzerland to link up with Borussia Dortmund and join them in pre-season.
That’s according to journalist Marlon Irlbacher, who provides footage of the full-back arriving at Zurich Airport ahead of his move to the Germans being completed.
He reports that Couto is set to go straight to Dortmund’s training camp and link up with his new teammates in Bad Ragaz as they continue pre-season.
Ruhr Nachrichten back that up, reporting that Couto from Sao Paulo to Zurich late on Thursday evening German time and touched down in Switzerland at 10:32am.
He was then taken to Bad Ragaz by Dortmund’s integration officer Joel Kunz, with a medical booked in for this afternoon. He is expected to join his new teammates on the pitch by Saturday at the latest.
Dortmund will initially loan the defender from Manchester City but will be obligated to buy him in the summer of 2025 for a base fee of €25m. The deal includes bonus payments in the ‘single-digit million range’.
The defender will sign a long-term deal at the club, likely until 2029, and bring an end to his time at Manchester City, which began four years ago when he arrived from FC Coritiba in Brazil.
