Manchester City youngster Claudio Echeverri is being represented terribly, as he has to wait until June to get back to playing.
That’s according to journalist Germán García Grova, whose comments on the Manchester City signing have been relayed by El Intransigente.
They explain that there is a growing sense of frustration and annoyance at River Plate over Echeverri, who moved to Manchester City at the end of December after an €18.5m deal was done for him in January last year.
They had hoped to keep Echeverri until the summer but were denied by Manchester City, who wanted him in their squad this year.
However, it has been made clear that the current plan is to integrate him into the City squad before sending him on loan to Girona in Spain next year.
That’s annoyed River Plate as they could have offered Echeverri playing time until the summer, rather than him missing out until that point and starting again next season.
They feel that an agreement could have been reached which suits all parties and Grova agrees, believing that the youngster is being badly advised on matters.
“Echeverri is being represented terribly,” he is quoted as saying.
“River Plate not only didn’t want to sell him at the time, but they tried to get him to stay so he could get playing time, but he didn’t, and now he’s out of action until June. Financially, these are brilliant decisions, but football-wise…”
