Barcelona may be considering signing João Cancelo from Manchester City next summer, with contradicting reports from Spain, but they should have a quite difficult challenge to get that transfer done.
Catalan outlet Sport today feature a story saying the Premier League side are making big demands to let the fullback move again.
According to the website, Manchester City want over €20m just to loan Cancelo out.
The report claims that the fullback is set to be one of Barcelona’s priorities in the market, as they have a strong belief that he’d suit their game well.
But in a recent meeting between Joan Laporta, Mateu Alemany and the player’s agent Jorge Mendes, it ‘became clear’ that the price demanded by Manchester City is too high.
Barcelona, however, are set to wait as they have confidence those numbers will go down. Bayern Munich may have a €70m buying option over Cancelo, but that’s unlikely to be triggered, and since his relationship with Pep Guardiola is thought to be poor, the English club are expected to put him on the market.
The La Liga giants understand they’d need to pay for his full wages and spend a little on a compensation for the loan, but that €20m just sounds too much.
