Manchester City have reached an agreement with Liverpool’s Luis Díaz on a five-year deal and are willing to pay €70m to sign him.
That’s according to El Chiringuito and journalist Marcos Benito, who has provided the details of what would be a shock transfer between the two clubs this summer.
In an exclusive for the outlet, Benito reports that Manchester City could be about to make one of the biggest moves of the summer transfer window by trying to secure Díaz from Liverpool.
According to his information, Manchester City have already reached an agreement with the Colombian in terms of his contract, which would be a five-year deal at the Etihad.
Negotiations with Liverpool are yet to get underway, but City have made it clear that they are willing to pay €70m for the winger, €20m more than Liverpool paid to sign him from Porto in January 2022.
“The most important movement of the summer, it is about Luis Díaz, the wide Colombian from Liverpool,” he said.
“They just told me that he has an agreement with Manchester City, an agreement of Luis Díaz with Manchester City, a five-season contract, City is willing to pay €70m.
“They tell me that the agreement between the player and the club is total, we will see what happens with Liverpool if he finally ends up accepting, but right now this is what is comes to me.
“Luis Díaz has an offer from Manchester City for five seasons in exchange for €70m.”
The question is whether Liverpool would be willing to accept such a deal and particularly sell to Manchester City, the team who have been their main rivals for the last few years.
They could afford to let Díaz go given they also have Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota on the left-wing, and the funds secured would provide them with a healthy profit and money to spend elsewhere, perhaps on a number six.
