Manchester City have made initial contacts for the possible signing of Diego Cavalieri, according to reports from Brazil.

The player had already been listed as a possible replacement for Claudio Bravo in a story from the English press this week, and now, website Globo Esporte claims that it could actually happen.

The website says that on Tuesday, the club called Ivan Jatobá, the player’s agent, to make a query. They’ve asked about his contract situation, if he’s training normally, and said he’s being evaluated.

Globo Esporte claims that the contact has been confirmed by Jatobá himself. The fact that Cavalieri has an Italian passport is something that helps the possibility of being signed.

It’s been a tough year for Cavalieri. He rescinded his contract with Fluminense in January, and agreed a short deal with Crystal Palace, but never really featured for the club.

Now being signed by Manchester City certainly wouldn’t be bad for a goalkeeper who hasn’t been playing.
