The L’Equipe consultant has been on a bit of a transfer news craze on Wednesday, claiming that Riyad Mahrez to Arsenal would be done soon and Chelsea were enquiring about Blaise Matuidi.

After a brief pause we can only presume was to have a spot of lunch, Mr Favard came back with more information, this time about Manchester City targeting a young Spanish midfielder currently playing for Real Zaragoza.

The consultant, who seemingly likes to nickname himself “The Spectre”, because why not, said that Sergio Gil was a target for Pep Guardiola this summer.

The 20-year-old, currently playing for Real Zaragoza’s B-team, made 17 appearances in La Liga 2 last season, getting one assist along the way.

To link a Spanish manager with a young Spanish midfielder is nothing revolutionary, and if this one did happen, you’d fully expect him to go straight back on loan somewhere else.

After the Geronimo Rulli deal, anything can happen at Manchester City these days.
