Despite West Ham being interested, it’s Manchester City who are in the lead when it comes to the potential signing of Jérémy Doku.
That’s what L’Equipe are reporting on Friday, using a bunch of other reports to pad out their own, but they do add nuggets of their own information in the mix.
Having sent Riyad Mahrez to Saudi Arabia, Manchester City need a new right-winger, and it appears the Belgium international is the man they have chosen.
They have also been looking at Bradley Barcola, but the main target seems to be the Rennes star, who started his season with a great performance in his team’s 5-1 win against Metz.
To get their man, L’Equipe state Manchester City would likely need €60m, and while other teams are also keen, there is ‘nothing more attractive’ than a club who won it all last season.
The French newspaper recall that ‘what City wants, they normally get’, which appears to apply here, because if they put their mind to it, the Premier League side are expected to win this rate.
Rennes have not received any official offer yet, but that’s also because the player ‘must first agree with his future club and choose his destination’, which might have already been done but hasn’t been made public.
